Gen Z Research

There is a growing body of work that has helped to make us aware of Gen Z's values, political activity, and interests. Understanding this generation of young people is only part of the challenge, however. We must also prepare ourselves, and our institutions, for a future where Zoomers are increasingly in positions of leadership and influence - and that includes helping them to attain those critical roles. We must find ways to listen to and thoughtfully engage with the members of Gen Z, as co-workers, classmates, and neighbors, so that future plans for every sector of our society are being developed collectively. Our research into Gen Z will hopefully help address these challenges and further the conversations about Gen Z's role in society.

LOOKING FORWARD WITH GEN Z

In spring of 2022, Murmuration partnered with the Walton Family Foundation and SocialSphere's John Della Volpe, the founder and director of the Harvard Youth Poll and author of the critically acclaimed FIGHT: How Gen Z is Channeling Their Fear and Passion to Save America, on an extensive study of Gen Z. The research was designed to add depth and context to vital questions on topics ranging from mental health, to gun safety, education, and the economy amongst young people, aged 15-25, and to elevate the voices of this new generation.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Murmuration partnered with the Walton Family Foundation on a survey of Gen Z and their feelings at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. The research helps to elevate Gen Z voices on critical issues related to their identity, political and social priorities, and ambitions. This project was led by SocialSphere's John Della Volpe, the founder and director of the Harvard Youth Poll and author of the critically acclaimed FIGHT: How Gen Z is Channeling Their Fear and Passion to Save America. The focus of the study was current high school students ages 15-18.

UNDERSTANDING THE GEN Z VOTE

Murmuration worked with the Walton Family Foundation and SocialSphere to understand Gen Zā€™s perspective on politics, patterns of civic engagement, and understand what motivated them to vote in 2022. This research was designed to provide issue advocates, community leaders, and people and organizations in positions of power ā€“ CEOs, political and government officials, academic champions, and other leaders ā€“ with guidance and insight on how best to engage this large, diverse, and increasingly influential cohort.
